The first reading this week is from the book of Acts and is the story of the disciple Philip who baptizes an Ethiopian eunuch to whom he has told the Good News of Jesus Christ. After hearing the Word that Philip brings to him, the eunuch says to Philip, “Look, here is water: what is to prevent me from being baptized?”
This week David and Karen Mastrofilipo, who were married in our church several years ago, will bring their new daughter, Ava back to Christ, where there will be water in the font and a community waiting to welcome her into the Love of God in Baptism. What is to prevent her from being baptized? Nothing! It is God’s command that we fulfill and God’s invitation to which we respond. Nothing can prevent God’s love and welcome from being extended to our newest sister in Christ!
We will celebrate God’s love which is given to us all in baptism in worship at 10:30am. Sunday School and Confirmation will meet at 9am. It is most important that all students be here this week as we will be preparing for Youth Sunday.
See you in church!
