After a few weeks of celebrations — Reformation Sunday and All Saints Sunday, we return for the next two weeks to what is known in the church as Ordinary Time — the weeks after Pentecost that lead to the end of the church year on Christ the King Sunday (November 23 this year). But this week’s Gospel is far from “ordinary” as we read from Matthew’s Gospel the message of Jesus about his Second Coming. Jesus promises he will return, and Christians have been waiting for over 2000 years for that to happen. Jesus’ promise is sure, but the timing is uncertain. We live in that time in between.
So what are we to do in the mean time? The Gospel reading this week has a message for us as we wait.
We will celebrate the Second Coming this Sunday at 10:30 am worship. Sunday School and Confirmation meets at 9 am. As an added treat, June and John Schmidt will be joining us for worship!
See you in Church!
